- S. Kwon Lee, MD FACS FCCWS is a board certified general surgeon and Chief Medical Officer of Northeast Surgical Associates in the Greater Cleveland area. He attended Johns Hopkins University for his undergraduate studies before going to medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. His internship at Parkland Hospital in Dallas was followed by surgery training in Cleveland at St Luke’s Medical Center. Over the past 5 years, he helped develop the wound management services for Northeast Surgical Associates into a viable and growing part of the practice, which led to the creation of Lee Warner Medical Interventions. This network of physicians and nurse practitioners are dedicated to the science of wound healing and delivering it to home care and long term care. In fact, their Ohio group covers over 270 nursing homes and numerous home care agencies where they deliver state of the art wound management services to these facilities and companies. Dr. Lee is a national speaker on wound care and concentrates on the common sense approach to wound management that is based upon science and research, not traditional or unproven methods. Over the past several years, wound management has become a very important aspect of patient care. There are three main areas of wound management: Wound care itself, pressure relief and nutrition. Of these three, it is apparent that nutritional interventions may play the key in unraveling the sometimes difficult and complex wound issues we face today. With the new guidelines on wound care that will affect ALL venues very soon, clinicians must demonstrate that they are actively trying to promote the healing process and certainly nutrition will be a key factor to consider.
